MEET WILL STATON
Hello, and welcome to my website, Willful Intent! My name is Will Staton, and for the last few years I've been blogging on a variety of topics for a number of outlets. Recently, I decided to consolidate my writings and pictures here.

I graduated from Washington Universtiy in St. Louis in 2008 with a double major in religious studies and history. I loved what I studied, but as I neared graduation I found myself on the career path to nowhere. My senior year I accepted a position as an on-campus recruiter for Teach For America. Because of that experience, I spent two years teaching in north Memphis with Teach For America before moving to New York City in 2010. I have been working in and with schools in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx for the last five years. My majors are still impractical.
On this site you will find all of my op-eds, the links and opt-in form to the weekly digest I send each Wednesday, plus recaps and pictures of my international travel. Though the content may seem a bit scattered, I focus my writing on "political issues" (for lack of a better term). Put simply, I've been lucky to see and experience many things, and those events have shaped my view of the world, so I write about them, and try to offer thoughts on how we can address the issues we face as a species.
